Shine your light on the world

The process of cultural diffusion is one of the best things about travelling. When you first get somewhere, direction, lifestyle, schedules, cuisine and sometimes language are foreign, but slowly you begin to uncover and decode another small corner of the world. You start to know where and when to go places, what to say, how to eat, dress and live a little more like the locals do. The best part is that it isn't a static one-way relationship; you leave your mark on the place and the people there in the same way they've imprinted themselves unto you. And in the case of the crazy English fans that burned me with a cigarette in Gelsenkirchen yesterday, I've got the physical imprint to prove it.
